Chapter 8- The Gypsy Legend

Bird Star stared at Wrangler for awhile before he cleared his thoart. “This legend is one passed down through my family, my father told it to me just days before he died. Please understand Oracle and I meant you no harm.” “Go on”
Bird Star looked away and began the tale: It has been told that once the battle was over Ponyland would become peaceful. The King and Queen reunited and strong leaders. The Princess would be the greatest ruler after her parents, having her mother’s compassion and her father’s intellect. The Princess being the only Alicorn meant she was still in danger in this peaceful time. For you see she has the power of the Phoenix. Many years will pass after the battle when a white pegasus from a foreign land will come to Ponyland. She alone can save the Princess from some of the dangers that lie ahead of her. You see the power of the Phoenix will unite with the power of friendship and become stronger. If this foreign pony ever finds the Princess she will be the crowning jewel in the Princess’s powers. Bird Star looked at Wrangler with tears in his eyes “I don’t want to finish the tale.” Wrangler reached out and placed a hoof on his cheek “Please do.” He shook his head and continued:
Once her power is complete the Princess will be invincible but she must keep this pony close to her. For if something happens to either the power will be lost forever. This foreigner will be found by the leader of the gypsy, he will save her and fall in love with her. The day the foreigner meets the Princess will be the day he loses his true love. To meet again is unknown but then again this Legend does not have a written ending. “So you think I am this pony but I’m not a pegasus.” Wrangler told him “There are many versions to the legend, that is just what I know. Oracle has looked into your soul and believes you are the one. Plus there is one true factor from the story.” Wrangler raised an eyebrow “There is?” Bird Star stared deep into her eyes “Yes there is. I have fallen in love with you.” “But, but you hardly know me.” she blushed. “What I know I love” he leaned forward and kissed her. “Please do not hate me for keeping this from you. I only wanted to protect you.” Wrangler didn’t know what to say or do. “Sleep on it, we’ll talk with Oracle in the morning.” “Okay” she laid down and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning Bird Star took her to Oracle’s wagon. He knocked on the door and waited for her to answer. After a short while the door opened and Oracle filled the doorway. “Follow me, too many ears around. We’ll talk in the forest.” “But wont others eavesdrop?” Wrangler asked with curiosity. “No gypsy’s know better, its in our creed.” Bird Star told her. “Some really has to tell me the whole creed someday.” she giggled. When they reached a clearing Oracle motioned for them to sit down. Looking at Wrangler she smiled, “ I know Bird Star told you his families Legend last night, along with his feelings for you. Now it is my turn to tell you what I know and what I saw in your soul the day we meet.” “Please do I am a little confused.” “The Legend I know does not give the race of the pony, only that SHE is a white foreigner. The Princess will bestow a gift from the heart, shortly after they meet. I’ve seen in your soul and you are destined to do great things. I am not one hundred percent sure if you are this pony that the legend but Bird Star seems to think so.” “Oracle I am just an ordinary pony, I don’t feel like there’s anything special inside of me.” “The power wont show its self until it’s ready, besides the Princess’s magic triggers it.” “But how? When?” “Child there are things I can not see and there are reasons behind that. Now the festival starts tomorrow, I must prepare. You tow should spend some time together.” she smiled and walked away.
They sat in silence until Bird Star cleared his thoart. “Are you okay?” “Yes just a lot to take in” she smiled weakly. “Follow me” he got up and motioned for her to follow. “Where?” “Somewhere I’ve wanted to take you” he smiled coyly. They walked farther into the forest until they came to another clearing that had a beautiful crystal blue lake with a waterfall. Wrangler gasped “It’s beautiful!” “Not as beautiful as you. Come on let’s go for a swim.” he took off and jumped into the lake.
Wrangler giggled and followed him into the lake, they splashed and swam for hours. When the sun sat they climbed out of the lake and laid next to each other. “Bird Star how did you become the gypsy’s leader?” “Well my father was before me and my grandfather before him.” “Oh. What is your act for the festival? I mean Oracle tells fortunes, Gypsy dances and others have their talents?” Bird Star smiled “I haven’t used my magic in so long so I took up archery, I am the best in Ponyland.” “Why haven’t you used your magic?” “That’s a long story.” he gazed at the stars. “We have the ti....”before she could finish he kissed her. “Some other time” he smiled at her. “Okay” whispered Wrangler.
He kissed her again and then nuzzled her neck. Unknown to them they were being watched. “How dare she come in her and take him!?” snorted Gypsy. “He would be mine if she hadn’t shown up! I’ll take care of her and make sure Bird Star never wants to see her again.” she smiled wickedly as she winked back to her tent.
