Chapter 7- Oracle's Magic and Gypsy's Betrayal

The next morning Wrangler woke up to the noise of ponies packing up, she pulled the blankets over her head and groaned. Quickly the blankets slipped out of her hooves and Bird Star was smiling at her.
“Rise and shine time to get moving. Once your packed put your back pack by the chest, I will keep it with my things. Meet me outside when you are finished.” Wrangler stretched and quickly got her things together she couldn’t wait to see what Oracle had to say. Opening the flap she found him talking to Oracle, they both turned when she appeared.
“There you are” smiled Bird Star “Oracle has requested that you travel with her.” “Um okay” Wrangler shifted uneasily “Don’t worry child I don’t bite.....very hard.” Wrangler’s eyes got big and they both burst out laughing “I am only joking, come with me. I travel in a wagon, too old to walk.”
Bird Star smiled and nodded at Wrangler “I will see you later.” Wrangler followed Oracle until they came to a wagon with writing on it. It said ‘Have your fortune told. Hooves read and Crystal ball readings’. Oracle motioned for her to follow into the wagon.
“Please have a seat child.” Wrangler took the seat across from her. “I will let you ask me one question before I start that way you feel like you know a little bit more about me?” Wrangler thought for a moment, she looked around until her eyes feel on Oracle’s broken horn. “How did you loose half of your horn?”
“Ah wise choice. There was a large battle a few years back. I choose to fight with King Silverwind and his brother broke half of my horn off in the fight. The Princess tried to save it but could not, she did however manage to seal it so I could keep my powers.” “Wow. Will you tell me about it?” “Only one question my dear. Besides the storytellers will be telling that tale since we are going to Crystal Falls.” “Oh, okay. What is it you want to know about me?” Wrangler asked. “I must warn you my powers let me know if you are telling the truth or not. So please do not lie, I have seen your destiny and would like to hear about your life before we meet.”
Wrangler shook her head. “Good then we can get started. It’s a few days til Crystal Falls so I have time. First off I kn ow you are not from here. When I looked into your eyes I seen another world. Please tell me how you came here?” “I don’t know for sure but I will tell you all that I know.” Wrangler told Oracle about everything up to when she meet Bird Star. “And now I sit here with you, I have no idea how to go back or why I am here. If you could help me I would appreciate it.” “My child I am old but I don’t know everything, I will do all that I can.” “Thank you.” “I am going to try and read your soul again. You will have to sit still for awhile until I am done. Can you do that?” “Yes.”
Oracle moved closer to Wrangler and placed her hooves on either side of her face. She stared deeply into her eyes, this time Wrangler noticed that her eyes didn’t glaze over but became a spark of fire. They rode like this for quite a ways until the wagon stooped suddenly. “We cant be there already, “Oracle got up, “Stay here and don’t make a sound.” Wrangler nodded her head and watched Oracle leave the wagon. She heard voices outside and they sounded heated. After about twenty minutes the door burst open and Bird Star was standing there. “Come with me quickly.”
Wrangler bolted out of the wagon and followed Bird Star. They ran for quite a ways until she stopped and was running out of breath. “What is going on?! Why did we leave the group?” Bird Star stopped and turned to her and sighed. Looking at her sadly he motioned for her to sit down. “Gypsy winked herself into the city and informed the authorities that we had a strange pony with us. I haven’t been able to contact my friend in the city to get papers made up for you.” “Okay, so what does that have to do with what happened back there?” “The authorities came to take you into custody. Oracle and I can’t afford to let you get taken.” “Why!?” “Just trust me Wrangler, now please no more questions. We will meet back up with the group in a few days.” he looked at her with pleading eyes. “Okay but only if you promise to tell me later what is going on?”
He walked over in front over her and put his hoof over his heart “Gypsy’s honor.” Wrangler giggled at him and smiled. The next few days the spent walking through the forest getting to know each other, they played games to pass them time. Wrangler hadn’t noticed how fast the time had pasted until they reached the outskirts of the Gypsy camp. Bird Star took her straight to his tent, after giving her the blankets again, he moved his bed closer to hers. “I don’t want anything to happen to you.” Wrangler blushed “Okay” she crawled into the bed and feel asleep quickly. She was awaken by voices outside the tent, they sounded pretty heated. She listened carefully to the conversation. “She can’t stay here!” “You don’t make the decisions, Gypsy. The creed says we help ANY pony in need.” “The only reason you are helping her is because of that stupid legend!” “Enough Gypsy! I have used my magic and that should be enough for even you.” “The others are just as upset as me. What happened the other day has never happened before.” “And why did it Gypsy? We know you were the one who alerted the authorities. If you do not drp this, I will bring up that in the next meeting.” “So what!?” “Gypsy my dear, You became a traitor to today. We NEVER give away ponies to the authorities.” “Is this black mail!?” “No just a friendly warning, Now off to bed, our friend is awake.” Bird Star entered the tent and Wrangler stared at him, she didn’t want anymore secrets. “I think it’s time we talked” Bird Star told her. “Yes so do I.’ He sat down next to her and smiled weakly.
