Chapter 6- The Gypsy Ponies

“Welcome back!” called a pony that Wrangler couldn’t quite make out due to the shadow from the bon fire. She stayed a little behind Bird Star, she was shy around large groups of unknown ponies.

“Good to be back” Bird Star called back. “Who’s with you?” the female unicorn asked. “Oh, this is my new friend Wrangler.” she stepped aside so the others could see her. “Bird Star do you think it was a good idea bringing her here?” snapped the unicorn as she came closer. “She’s harmless, trust me. Just a regular earth pony.” “You don’t know that!” she stamped her hoof. “Gypsy do not question my decisions! I am the leader here.”
Everyone in the camp became quit talking and putting their full attention to Bird Star and Gypsy. “As we ALL already know.” she glared at him. “Keep an eye on her yourself we aren’t babysitters.” With that she turned and disappeared into the camp.
A light purple unicorn with a broken horn walked up to Wrangler. She stood on her hind legs and placed her hooves on either side of Wrangler’s face. Staring deeply into her eyes she looked like she was in a trance, her eyes glazed over and then she smiled. “As always Bird Star your right this pony means us no harm.” She let go of Wrangler and took a step back from her.
“Thank you Oracle” Bird Star declined his head to her. “I would like to get to know you better, come see me in the morning.” Oracle told Wrangler. Bird Star cleared his tharot “Tomorrow, for my dear friend must be tired after fighting a .”
Lot’s of gasps came from the group of ponies. Most of the started murmuring between one another. Staring and pointing in Wrangler’s direction, she shifted uncomfortably form hoof to hoof.
“Can it be?” “Is she the one?” “Are the stories really true?” Bird Star nudged Wrangler “Come with me.” She followed closely behind, they reached a large green tent and Bird Star pulled back the flap and motioned her in. Once inside she couldn’t believe her eyes. “Welcome to my tent, it will be safer for you to stay here with me.” “Why? Did I do something wrong?” Bird Star chuckled “No you did nothing wrong.” Wrangler took a step back “Then what’s going on?”
“I’ll tell you soon but not now I am exhausted. Aren’t you?” Wrangler hadn’t noticed how tired she was until he mentioned it. She shook her head and yawned. Bird Star opened a chest and pulled some blankets out “They’re not much but they’ll keep you warm.”
Wrangler took her pack off and rolled her sleeping bag out. Taking the blankets from him she placed two at the opening for a pillow and spread the others out to cover her. “Goodnight Bird Star, Thanks for saving me tonight.” she closed her eyes and feel asleep.
Bird Star waited until her breaths were even and deep. Thinking out loud “Could you really be her? The stories say she is a white peg though. Nah” he shook his head. “Besides the stories also say she is from a foreign land. You look like the rest of us.” He slowly feel asleep with unanswered questions running through his mind. Unknown to him Gypsy was outside his tent listening to the conversation. “He thinks he can bring who ever he wants into our camp. I’ll show him.” she snorted and lightly stamped her hoof.
Out of the corner of her eye something caught her eye. The pony came forward and glared at her. “Oh Oracle I did not know you were still making rounds.” bowed Gypsy. “Heed my warning Gypsy leave Bird Star and this new pony Wrangler alone. Fate can not be messed with, not even by you.” Gypsy snorted “Why?!” “There are things you do not know or would understand but trust me they are not to be messed with. Their destinys have already been chosen. Now go and heed my warning.” Gypsy walked off pausing to look back once. Oracle walked up to the tent and whispered “Sweet dreams Wrangler, tomorrow my magic will let me know destiny lies ahead of you.” The wind came up and she disappeared with it.
