Chapter 4- First Night Alone

The next morning Wrangler was awaken by the sun shining in the window. She got up and stretched her legs. Sunny Daze came into the living room carrying a back pack with a sleeping bag attached to the bottom of it.
“Here you go sweetie, there is food and water inside plus a sleeping bag to sleep in. I don’t want you sleeping on the ground or going hungry.” “Thank you so much, you didn’t have to do that.” “No problem at all.” smiled Sunny Daze “When will you be leaving?” “Pretty soon, I want to put some ground under me and explore.” “Well Crystal Falls is a few days journey from here. You’ll have to sleep outside.” “It’s okay, I’ve done it before.” “Well I have a map in the kitchen, let me show you the way.” “So what’s Crystal Falls like?” “Well it is just outside the castle walls. Royal Sky Castle that is. It is the heart of Ponyland. King Silverwind and Queen Rainsong rule from there. The Princess lives there also, she is about your age. The town is bigger than here but very beautiful.” “What’s the royal family like?” “Ah good question. King Silverwind is the best king. There was a battle a few years back but I wont go into that you can find someone in the kingdom to tell you that story.” “What about the Princess?” “Well like I said she’s about your age. She is the only Alicorn in Ponyland.” Wrangler had never heard of an Alicorn but she thought it best to keep that to herself. “Well you had better be off. You come back and visit me okay?” “Of course” smiled Wrangler
Once outside Sunny Daze pointed off in one direction. “Head straight that way, down the road. It will lead you straight to Crystal Falls.” Wrangler embraced Sunny Daze “Thank you so much.” They waved goodbye and she sit off in the direction of Crystal Falls.
Wrangler had been walking for hours when she decided to take a break. Finding a shady spot she took the back pack off and sat down.
“Grrrr” her stomach rumbled “I better eat something, I didn’t realize it had been so long. As she ate she looked at her surroundings this land was very beautiful. She noticed that she had come to the edge of the forest. “I better get through here before dark.” She gathered her things up and headed into the forest. The sunlight peeked through the leaves and creatures scurried across the path in front of her. The plants and flowers were all beautiful and Wrangler enjoyed seeing them. She was about halfway through when the sun started to set. “I better find somewhere to camp for the night. I don’t know could be lurking around here at night.”
She found a cave not far from the path. She slowly entered it and called out “Hello?” when her voiced stopped echoing and no reply she decided to stay for the night. She undid her sleeping bag and rolled it out. Gazing up at the stars she whispered “Good night mother.” Wrangler was awaken by a low growling. She looked around trying to find the source. When her eyes fully adjusted to the darkness she seen a pair of yellow eyes glaring at her. She gasped and slowly started to get up. The growling got louder as the creature emerged from the bushes. She froze right in front of her stood a creature that resembled a wolf but was hairy and had a huge tail. It started slowly walking towards her drool seeping out of its mouth. The front teeth were longer than a normal wolves and it snarled at her.
